Teletherapy

WHAT IS TELETHERAPY?

Teletherapy is a different way to provide the same occupational, speech-language and feeding therapy services that you would typically have received in our office. We deliver our teletherapy services through TheraPlatform, a secure, synchronous video conferencing system. If you have ever used Skype, Facetime or Zoom you've used similar technology to connect with others. Teletherapy visits may involve the therapist instructing your child directly to participate in a wide variety of therapeutic activities or coaching you, the parent, in ways that you can support your child. Since incorporating teletherapy into our practice we have discovered a wide range of benefits by using this model. These benefits include but are not limited to 1. Improved carryover of skills into home, because your child is learning the skills at home. 2. More individualized recommendations and carryover strategies, because your therapist now has a better understanding of your child’s home environment. 3. Improved parental confidence in executing therapy strategies in daily life, because you are an integral part of the team during each session. 4. Convenience of receiving therapy services in the comfort of your home and working with each individual family's need or preference choosing teletherapy versus in-clinic therapy for their child.

HOW DO I KNOW IF TELETHERAPY WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR MY CHILD?

We are happy to provide individual phone consultations if you are interested in learning more about teltherapy services but are unsure whether or not it would be the right fit for your child. Simply contact our office and request to speak directly with an occupational therapist or speech-language pathologist and provide information regarding your child's specific needs.
